About Me

My name is Louise van der Bijl, and I have spent a good 14 years of my life in web and graphic design.

I am an experienced and creative user experience professional with a proven record in UX leadership, strategy, people management and innovation. I have been responsible for the user experience and design of various web application platforms and custom web and mobile applications.

My latest obsession is responsive design. I created on of South Africa’s first responsive SharePoint 2010 sites, and now I say “Go Responsive, or go home… just make sure it is backwards compatible”. But SharePoint is not the only platform I work with, I have experience with most CMS’s and with custom applications (both mobile and web).

I used to be a avid gamer, but these days I stick with World of Warcraft and (I am embarrassed to say – Facebook Bingo). I make desktop background when the inspiration hits, and have been building my own metro icons as I am playing with Microsoft Metro look and feel. I am teaching myself Expression Blend so that I can apply my flair to mobile applications for Windows Phone 7.

I believe in one simple saying – Do what you love, then find some one to pay you for it.
